NICCI PARRY-JONES
Moving to Queensland in late 2017, Nicci quit her day job in arts administration to become a full time potter, but her arts practice ranges over 25 years, encompassing ceramics, photography and design.
Her ceramics are a mix of thrown porcelain domestic forms, quirky tea pots and whimsical sculptures that reflect the spirit of discovery the artist is exploring living the dream. She is currently setting up a new studio on Mount Tamborine and teaches for the Gold Coast Potters Association.
Nicci’s says of her practice:
I love to throw on the wheel; it is that quiet timeless space that coalesces 20 years of practice and spontaneous creativity into one action. Then comes the science and an age old process: firing the clay; mixing ingredients like an apothecary; dipping, lapping and overlapping glazes and loading the kiln, hoping the kiln gods smile on you. I feel privileged to be able to work in the field of ceramics, creating forms that offer a haptic intimate experience that only handmade crafts can give.
Nicci’s ceramics are sold under her brand, PJ Pottery
